Hello my lovelies! Grab a warm cuppa, settle in, and let's have a heart to heart about something incredibly human: Change.

Change can often feel like trying to surf a tsunami in a teacup, right? Either, one minute, life's flowing along, and the next, the rug's been pulled or all of sudden the landscape shifts, a death, a loss or a big, shiny (or scary!) new opportunity is knocking.

Whether it’s a personal transformation, a career pivot, a life transition, or even the subtle shift of seasons, change can bring up all sorts of feelings; excitement, anxiety, grief, hope, and often, a deep sense of disorientation.

But what if we could learn to dance with change, instead of just bracing for impact? What if we could create an inner sanctuary where we feel safe enough to navigate the unknown, connected enough to hear our inner wisdom, and strong enough to trust our own voice?

That, my dears, is exactly what we’re going to explore today! Think of this as your "How To Guide" for gracefully surfing the waves of change, using some beautiful, ancient wisdom and healing practices that I have used to support myself through periods of change.

Navigating the Tides: Your "How To" for Embracing Change

The key to managing change isn't to control the external world (good luck with that, right?!), but to cultivate an inner environment of safety, clarity, and trust. Here's how:

1. Grounding in Nature: Your Ancient Anchor

When everything feels up in the air, the Earth is our greatest stabiliser. Our ancestors knew this deeply, and created a number of points across the year to honour the patterns of change. We used to be much more connected to the earth, the cycles, the change in weather, the moon, we worked in rhythm with the earth and were physically connected to it, so reclaiming our connection starts with 2 very simples practices:

  • Earthing/Grounding: Take off your shoes and literally put your bare feet on the grass, soil, or sand. Imagine roots growing from your feet deep into the Earth, pulling up her steady, nurturing energy. Feel her solidity beneath you. This simple act can dramatically reduce anxiety and bring you back to the present moment.

  • Nature Immersion: Spend time consciously observing nature. Watch a tree sway, listen to the birds, feel the wind on your skin. Nature is a master of change look at where we are now, in the winter! Shedding leaves, enduring storms, then blooming again. It teaches us about cycles, resilience, and inherent wisdom. Let it remind you that change is natural, and new growth always follows.

2. Shamanic Wisdom: Journeying for Guidance

In very basic terms....Shamanic practices are all about connecting with the unseen realms and inner landscapes to gain insight and healing. When you’re facing change, there are a few shamanic practices that can offer deep comfort and empower you to face change. Here are a couple, follow your instinct with what feels right for you;

  • Power Animal Connection: In shamanism, Power Animals are spirit guides that embody specific strengths and qualities. When feeling uncertain, you can connect with a Power Animal through meditation (or even just by looking for signs in nature). Ask: “What animal medicine do I need to navigate this change?” Perhaps it's the courage of a Tiger, the adaptability of a Fox, or the vision of a Red Kite, soaring above, reviewing the situation from a different perspective. Invoking their energy can help you embody the qualities you need.

  • Journaling as an "Inner Journey": Sit in quiet contemplation with a specific question about the change you’re facing (e.g., "What is this change trying to teach me?"). Close your eyes, breathe, and then open your eyes and free-write whatever comes to mind without judgment. Allow your deeper wisdom to emerge, just as a shaman journeys for answers.

3. Reiki: Creating an Inner Sanctuary of Safety & Clarity

Ah.....Reiki, my most favourite, beautiful subject! This gentle, yet profoundly powerful, energy healing practice feels like an absolute superpower during times of change. It works by creating the inner conditions you need to truly feel and know your way through what is write for you in the present moment, in a cocoon of safety.

  • Creating Safety in the Body: When change hits, our nervous system can go into fight, flight, or freeze. Reiki helps to down regulate that response, creating a deep sense of relaxation and safety in the body. When your body feels safe, your mind can calm, and you can access your intuition more easily. It's like building a soft, warm nest inside yourself, no matter what storms are brewing outside.

  • Connecting to Your Intuition: Change often requires making decisions without all the answers. Reiki helps to clear the mental fog and energetic blocks that prevent us from hearing our own intuitive voice. By balancing your energy, Reiki creates a clear channel for your inner wisdom to speak, that subtle gut feeling, that knowing in your heart, that whisper of truth. It helps you trust that voice above the noise of fear or external opinions.

  • Releasing Blocks to Self Trust: We all have old patterns or fears that tell us we can't trust ourselves, especially during uncertainty. Reiki gently brings these to the surface so they can be acknowledged and released. It empowers you to reconnect with your inherent knowing, strengthening your conviction in your own choices. Whether you’re receiving Reiki from a practitioner or practicing self Reiki, you are actively cultivating self-trust and inner guidance.

Your Compassionate Inquiry into Change

Remember, managing change isn’t about being fearless, it’s about being present and compassionate with whatever arises. Take a moment to ask yourself:

  • What is my body feeling right now as I think about a change in my life? (Acknowledge that sensation, don't judge it.)

  • What does my intuition want me to know about this change? (Listen to the soft whisper, not the loud fear.)

  • How can I create more safety and space for myself to move through this period with grace and inner strength?

Change is an invitation to grow, to evolve, and to deepen our trust in life’s unfolding. By consciously engaging with practices like connecting to nature, shamanic journeying, and the profound support of Reiki, you’re not just surviving change, you’re truly living it, with an open heart and a grounded spirit.

So, beautiful Humans, let's embrace the dance of change, knowing we have all the wisdom and tools we need within us and around us. If you're currently going through a period of change and feel you need some support feel free to get in touch!

With so much love and gentle energy, Alexis Frier (Lexi) - Founder of Nature Angel
